Load Balancing, Data Synchronization and Auto Scaling work together to remove single points of failure and keep the service running even if one zone fails.

Overview

Availability zones are the foundation for building resilient cloud architectures.

An availability zone is cloud infrastructure deployed separately across data centers within the same geographic region. Each AZ has independent power, cooling and network connectivity in order to limit the impact of a localized failure.

The AZs are interconnected by high-speed, low-latency links with multiple redundant paths, so data moves between them without interruption. Multi Availability Zone is a model for running VPS instances, databases and application services across multiple AZs on the Public Cloud platform.

HAOptimizes availability for critical applications
DRReady to fail over when an incident occurs
ScaleScales flexibly with actual traffic
Recommended architecture

Distribute resources, keep data in sync and fail over automatically.

Several virtual machines serving the same workload, such as a web service or a database service, are placed in different availability zones, combined with a load balancer and data replication.

  • Database Replica
  • Private Subnet

AZ-02

Why should you not deploy in a single AZ?

  • Risk of service interruption from hardware failure, software failure, power loss, flooding, or fire.
  • A single AZ can become a single point of failure. If that AZ is disrupted, the entire application risks going down.
Multi-Availability Zone benefits

Improves application availability, fault tolerance and recoverability.

High availability

Limits the impact of hardware faults, software incidents, power loss or natural disasters confined to a single AZ. Applications keep running on standby resources in another AZ.

Scalability

Scale applications by adding or removing virtual machines across multiple AZs, which handles sudden traffic spikes more efficiently.

Improve fault tolerance

Distributes workloads across separate locations, reducing the risk of a single point of failure and improving overall system resilience.

Disaster Recovery

Provides a built-in disaster recovery foundation, allowing systems to fail over quickly to a standby zone and recover after unforeseen events.

Use cases

Scenarios well suited to deploying multi-AZ on HiTechCloud.

Multi-AZ is particularly suited to systems that require continuous uptime, high fault tolerance and flexible scaling in line with business demand.

Deploy Load Balancing

The load balancer distributes traffic across healthy instances in the system, regardless of which AZ they sit in. This approach optimizes performance and prevents any single server from being overloaded.

Health Check Traffic Distribution Failover

Business-critical applications

Systems where downtime carries a heavy financial or operational cost — e-commerce, online banking, ERP, CRM — need Multi-AZ to improve fault tolerance and maintain availability.

Mission-critical Enterprise High Availability

Deploy auto scaling

Automatically adjusts the number of VPS instances based on traffic demand, so applications have enough resources to absorb fluctuations while maintaining consistent performance.

Auto Scaling Elastic Resource Peak Traffic

Large-scale systems

For distributed applications, or applications serving several user groups, Multi-AZ spreads resources across multiple availability zones, reducing latency and improving scalability in each region.

Large-scale Distributed System Low Latency

Web services requiring high uptime

News websites, social media platforms, customer service portals and API systems that need continuous uptime benefit from the fault tolerance of Multi-AZ.

HiTechCloud works with you at every stage — design, deployment, testing and optimization — so the Multi-AZ architecture fits your actual systems.

01

Workload assessment

Classification of applications, RTO/RPO, data, system dependencies, and the criticality of each service.

02

Multi-AZ architecture design

Build the VPC, subnets, routing, security groups, load balancing and a suitable data synchronization model.

03

Deploy & test failover

Provision resources across multiple AZs, configure health checks, and test failover and incident scenarios.

04

Continuous monitoring & optimization

Track performance, latency, alerts, backup and cost, and optimize scaling capacity against real demand.
